Welcome to Edina
The city of Edina is located southwest of Minneapolis in Hennepin County. This first-ring suburb began as a small milling and farming community in the 1860s. US Highways 62 and 100 divide the city of Edina into four sections. Edina is home to the Southdale Center, which opened in 1956 and was the nation’s first indoor regional shopping mall. The area of 50th Street and France Avenue is known for its shopping and restaurants. There is also a small movie theater located there that was originally opened in the 1930s. The Edina School District includes six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.
