Welcome to Maple Grove
Maple Grove is named for the large Maple trees present in the area, which produced syrup. The city is located northwest of Minneapolis in Hennepin County. Until 1851, Winnebago Indians were the only inhabitants in the area. By 1855, many homes, a church, and a town hall were built. Settler Pierre Bottineau built the first wood frame house in the Maple Grove area in 1854. The city was founded in 1858, but not incorporated until 1954. The Osseo School District includes has 17 elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools. Maple Grove High School is the only high school located in the city of Maple Grove. Part of Maple Grove is served by the Wayzata School District.
