Welcome to SW Minneapolis
(Linden Hills/Lake Harriet Neighborhood)
The village of Linden Hills is located between Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun southwest of Minneapolis in Hennepin County. It is named for the Linden trees that line the hilly streets. The Minnesota Streetcar Museum offers rides on the restored Como-Harriet Streetcar for a small fee. The streetcar still follows the original mile-plus path between Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun. A replica of the 1900 original streetcar station is located at the intersection of Queen Ave and 42nd Street. Twin City Rapid Transit built the original Lake Harriet Bandshell as a way to increase ridership of the streetcar. The Lake Harriet Bandshell is a fifth-generation music venue on the northern shore of Lake Harriet. Concerts and other events are held weekly at the venue. Paths around Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, and Lake of the Isles are connected for walking, biking, and inline skating. This area in within the Minneapolis School District and includes the Lake Harriet Community School and Southwest High School.
